About

What’s in the crate? is a random mix show for those who need some electronic music in their life. A crate refers to a DJ’s storage for vinyl records. Genres aren’t the focus. My name is DJ Jon Pie and I will be your host for this series.

I started DJing in 1997 at 12 years old. I found electronic before that on late night Chicago radio and would record the mixes on cassette. I fell in love with Hard House and evolved to mixing Progressive House and Euro in the early 2000s. In high school, I would record mix CDs for friends and found a hard dance music genre called Hardstyle in 2003. It was the start of a genre and I’ve been there ever since.

As my style evolves, so did my equipment. I started using turntables with vinyl, moved to CD players, computer controlled CD players, and now controller. I always find ways to push my creativity and hope you will enjoy this series.
